Figures released by the AA have revealed that less that 5% of drivers do not wear seatbelts and one in 20 could be thrown through their windshield should they have to make an emergency stop.

Observers for the firm found when watching roundabouts and junction throughout the country almost 40,000 vehicles where drivers were not wearing seatbelts.

On top of this almost 10% of all traffic was judged to be going too fast when negotiating the junction, AA President Edmund King said: “AA Streetwatch observations show that 5% of drivers are still not wearing a seatbelt despite this contributing to 30% of road deaths.

“Many of those un-belted were taxi and van drivers who should be aware that they are potentially more at risk due to their higher mileage. It is of great concern that 5% of drivers still haven’t got the ‘cluck, click every trip’ message.”

Surveys conducted before the actual investigation found that over 80% of AA members expected there to be 5% of people using mobile phones whilst in control of a vehicle. However the actual results reflected that less than 0.23% of people were using phones without ‘adequate’ hands free provisions.

Across the pond in the US schemes have been implemented in schools to make people aware of the dangers that are faced by distracted driver. Back in the UK vehicle leasing and contract hire firms warned how warranty, insurance and any leasing agreement would be voided should a driver be caught or involved in an accident where they were on a mobile phone or not wearing a seatbelt.

Warranty Direct have just revealed the most reliable vehicle on the UK market is the Peugeot 207.

On its debut year back in 2007 the 207 was the bestselling car in Europe and has been billed as the eventual replacement to the bestselling 206.

Reviewers have complemented the solid feeling of the 207 and also how with the right engine it’s phenomenal value for money.

Statistics have shown that the 207 has an ‘incident rate’ of just 6% and costs on average £331 to get back on the road in the event of one. As an estate car the 207sw is aimed at families for which safety is paramount and these statistics will only strengthen Peugeot’s reputation.

Since its inception Peugeot have prided themselves on the safety of the 207 its six airbags as standard gave the vehicle a distinct advantage when it obtained the companies highest ever scores in the EuroNCAP safety tests.

In recent years Peugeot 207sw leasing has become a lot more popular both due to the benefits associated with leasing and the smaller initial costs compared with buying the car outright or on finance. Some of the attractive options associated with leasing include the ability to change vehicles after a set contract. A lot of leasing companies also offer services and minor repairs inclusive of the monthly costs.

When looking at leasing a car industry experts have recommended getting as many quotes as possible and exploring as many options as you can, as with everything different companies offer different package and may not cater specifically to your requirements and needs.

A survey has shown that 85% of UK drivers believe that tailgating causes the most dangerous situations on the road.

The survey by road safety group GEM revealed that this and talking on your mobile phone whilst driving is responsible for causing the most accidents on the road. Two thirds of motorists also voiced concerns about driving in the middle lane when the left lane is available saying that it should be more strictly enforced.

The final list of the ten offences is:

10- Stopping on the hard shoulder when there is no emergency.

9 – Use of the outside lane by HGV.

8 – Speeding.

7 – Driving too slowly.

6 – Entering a motorway from slip road with adequate consideration or signals.

5 – Driving on the hard shoulder to avoid traffic.

4 – Changing lanes with adequate observations and signals.

3 – Driving in the middle lane when left hand lane is empty.

2 – Driving while using a mobile phone.

1 – Tailgating.

Concerns were raised about all the above issues by business contract hire customers who as regular users of the road felt they were more likely to be at risk.

David Williams CEO of GEM said:

“Drivers need to make sure they are taking every precaution if they are planning to use a motorway and be fully aware of the dangers. We believe that bad motorway driving such as tailgating and driving in the middle lane when the left hand lane is empty should definitely be more strictly enforced.”

Adding:

“It is this kind of careless driving that can lead to frustration, annoyance and possible accidents.”

Ford have revealed that it will not be leasing the batteries for its new electric version of the Focus.

The company announced this amidst rumours they would be operating a contract hire style program where owners would have to rent the battery from Ford at an extra subscription based cost.

Managing Director of Ford UK Nigel Sharp said:

“We’re waiting to see how the market reacts to other electric cars, but we are sure leasing batteries is not the way to go, the Focus must be sold as a conventional car would be.”

The reason behind Ford’s original proposal to lease the batteries was to lower the initial cost of the vehicle, recent feedback based research has found the a large majority of the public would be put off buying any brand of electric vehicle due to the price.

Ford will be playing their trump card with the release of the electric Focus, the battery takes half the time of the current crop of electric vehicle to recharge and they are also targeting a range of 100 miles off a single charge.

Contract hire is becoming more and more popular especially given the increasing costs of maintaining a car and it’s not hard to understand why Ford had this idea, The Independent newspaper even recently endorsed leasing vehicles urging would be leasers to make use of sites like Leasebam.

With six airbags, ESC (Electronic Stability Control) and four disc brakes, Kia Soul is one of the safest cars you will find. Besides, it also comes in many vibrant colours and interior designs and fully fitted with centralized locking, air conditioning and a 6 speaker audio system. It is available at many stores if you are not willing to buy one for long term use but would still like to try the car, you can opt for a Kia Soul car lease.

While negotiating the deal, try going for a longer lease term, say around 36 to 48 months. This reduces the amount of monthly lease payments. If you lease the car for business purposes, it will appear on your records as a business expense and gain you a tax exemption. Most dealers do not ask a down payment from you. If any do ask, it is only going to be a small payment.

As you receive your Kia Soul car lease, make sure you don’t get carried away, because there is one important point to keep in mind. That is to take note of the mileage restrictions. Once you go above the permitted level, you will have to pay for each extra mile you drive.

The BMW M3 is an offshoot of the 3 series from BMW, one of the best known compact sport cars. The M3 is a combination of a professional race car’s performance and the convenience of a standard normal sized car. If you are itching to lay your hands on the car but cannot afford or may not need it for a long period, then leasing would be the right option. There are many dealers that offer BMW M3 car lease.

On the other hand, if you plan to use the car for a long time, say, above three years then buying would be a better option. Since leasing involves monthly payments, you may end up paying a sum that is larger than the actual price of the car over a period more than 3 years.

If you are just a car freak who wants to try out different cars every few years, then it would be unwise to purchase an expensive car like the BMW. In such cases, the viable alternative would be to go for a BMW M3 car lease. At the end of the lease term, you can return the car to the dealers and move on to another one without having to spend too much.

Hyundai i30 is the latest offering from the Hyundai company’s i-series. If you are planning to approach your dealer for a Hyundai i30 car lease, there are a few factors which you will have to consider.

Flexibility in the contract is one of the things that you should look for in a lease plan. Consider the period of your lease term and the mileage allowance (the number of miles you are allowed to travel during the lease term). Make a special note of the mileage allowance, because going beyond the permitted number can result in extra charges. Also, make sure that the lease charges include maintenance and service. Consider all these points before you choose a deal that’s right for you.

Another thing to look for is the ‘wear and tear’ costs. Any company would want their car to be returned in great shape and these charges are normally applied to the car’s brakes and tyres, which are naturally susceptible to wear and tear. While some companies charge in the end, some include this too in the monthly payment.

Besides these important points, there are some very minor points which will be revealed as you discuss the deal with the company. These should help you choose a Hyundai i30 car lease plan that is right for you.

Tweet This Post

Although the Hyundai i10 is a small car, it has the feel of a big car inside and its economy of fuel usage, safety features and sleek finish have made it a huge success throughout Europe. If you feel this car is ideal for your short term need, you can contact your dealer for a Hyundai i10 car lease.

There are many reasons why you can choose finance leasing over buying a car. One of them is that the leasing company provides you with maintenance and servicing of the car, which is included in the monthly payment. This would not have been possible when you purchase it. With fixed monthly payments, you can easily manage your motoring costs. A lease agreement is also very flexible- you can adjust the mileage allowance to meet your requirements.

By the end of the lease term if you feel the car is perfect for your permanent needs, a lease also provides for that. Otherwise, you can return it back- provided it is in good condition- and free yourself of any further responsibilities towards the car. With so many benefits, there is no reason why you shouldn’t choose a Hyundai i10 car lease.

You may be attracted by the unusual look of the Nissan Juke and may want to try going for a drive in it, but two things stop you there- you either can’t afford it or you are not in long term need of it. The best way out is to look for a Nissan Juke Car Lease at one of the dealers.

There are two types of lease you can choose for your Nissan Juke – closed-end and open lease. In a closed end lease, you can return the car and simply walk away at the end of the lease term as agreed. It frees you of any further responsibility towards the car at the end of the term. To avoid any extra expenses, you will have to return the car in good condition and consider the mileage allowance and wear and tear written in the lease plan.

An open lease is a bit of a gamble, where you bet on the amount the car is going to be worth at the end of the lease. As the term of your Nissan Juke Car Lease ends and you return the car to the company, they appraise it to verify the current value of the car. If it falls below your estimated value, you may have to pay them extra.

Ironically last year we talked about the increase in Vat and would it harm the car industry as a whole. Results showed a good start to last year followed by a down turn, probably due to the new government and the worry of lost jobs and economy. Well here we are gain with another hike in the VAT, so business lease together with a make of car with low depreciation seems to be the order of the day. Mercedes offers options in this area, first they have a range of low emission vehicles and even through some bad times when the quality of build was questioned, Mercedes still held its own on the depreciation stakes.

Of course if you are a business owner, and many Mercedes drivers are, the increase in VAT will make little difference as you can claim 50% of it back, although the private lease market may be different. So Mercedes car lease is likely to remain popular and in fact may be the driving force within Mercedes new car sales this year. If new car sales drop, like they did 2 years ago, then used values will rise, which again will keep those Mercedes car lease monthly payments down. If there is going to be a survivor, Mercedes is likely to be it.
